Surveys: A special gift from Hell.

This is Amurica ok people. I have rights for cryin' out loud! So will someone please explain to me the necessity people in bearuocratic positions feel for harassing decent, God fearing people, to fill out surveys. Doggonit if I don't feel like filling out a cotton pickin survey and giving you...and everybody in cyber space...my personal information, I don't have to.

Now before you folks get on your soap box and give me a good tellin' to, I am completely aware of and understand the purpose of a survey. Gather information to better serve the community yadda yadda yadda....If there's one thing I've learned from reading business and psychology books and articles it's that everyone, that is every single person in this world only cares about one single thing. Themselves. It's a hard habit to break and I am a firm believer in realizing you have a problem is the first step to fixing it, but I...well, that's another blog.

Right now I'm angry. Wellllll......more annoyed than anything.

One book in particular claims the ONLY way to get someone to do something they don't want to do, is to make them WANT to do it. How? Well you'll have to read the book for that trade secret...and as testimony, I've had several surveys presented to me in the last few months, I haven't wanted to do them and so I refused to participate. This resulted in several garbage bags full of sticky-door letters and a worn out delete button from those nasty emails...I'm currently in a "battle" right now...I'll win, it's just a  matter of riding out the storm.

Paranoid. Selfish. Whatever the subconscious reason may be, this is one thing I have put my foot down for and I'm not budging....it's the principle really...What is the principle? Oh...well, yah know, to be able to choose not to do something you don't want to do if you don't have to...and not be harassed with 8 million EMAILS AND PAMPHLETS!!!

Catch That Kid: A Critically Acclaimed Film ft. Kristen Stewart...Oh Wait...

Is it weird that after only 15 minutes, I am making room in my "favorite movie" collection for Catch That Kid.The movie introduces you to Maddie, a tween obsessed with rock climbing (cuz her daddy did it). It opens with lil Maddie climbing a water tower...and then proceeding to FALL TO HER DEATH!!!! Just kidding....she does fall, but is luckily caught by an unfaulty bolt on said tower. We're introduced to Madelene Rose's friends (the artiste and the man's man...both of whom are in 12 yr old love with her), the annoying goon/bully, as well as her family, 1/3 of which (aka her father) ends up paralyzed and requiring a Denmarkian experimental procedure. Being broke, Maddie decides to rob the bank her mom works for.

Nuff said? I know right. The movie is complete with the entire arsenal of corny music, insults and just plain crazy events that would never happen in real life, befitting a 90's kids flick (even though this was released in 2004). I suggest, for maximum enjoyment, begin watching with zero expectations, then you're golden.

What makes the experience even more enjoyable is that little Maddie is played by none other than Bella...Yes, Bella Swan makes an appearance, 'fraid Edward is prolly wandering around Canada though. Acting is pretty much verbatim of Twilight...surprise.

Some interesting things to consider while watching the movie...I know that lil Maddie is trying to help her father, but societal rules explicitly define robbing banks as bad...and immoral...and for a young person to completely disregard obligations to ethical causes with such ease (and use a savvy ability to convince others to follow suit - including emotional manipulation) calls into question her mental well-being....I mean, after saving the Dad, her mother should really consider counseling.

Also, why is the only brotha in the film assigned to "takin' care of the killer Rottweilers" and then, while doing his research gets the dogs sicked on him! Really?...Really..?

Finally, yet again, she is caught in a love triangle (practice?)...AND with a pale face and a brown face at that! lol....although....her methods in this movie are slightly different....

Sorry, can't ruin the ending for you because I turned the TV off before I could lose anymore braincells...hey, I need em for school ok...

I Pity the Fool Who Doesn't Buy a Flavor Wave

Forced to watch home shopping channels today, because nothing worth anything is on TV on Sunday afternoon, I found myself watching the scripted enthusiasm of Mr. T and a random Stepford Wife. What exactly were they selling? The Flavor-Wave, a glass bowl that cooks frozen solid steak, corn cob and potato in 16 minutes. Cue skepticism.

Ok, so there is a bit more to this cooker than just a glass bowl. It's actually a combination of halogen heating (for browning) and infrared waves (to cook food inside out) an "tornado-like" airflow. Check out the YouTube magic below!

Yes for 3 easy payments of $39.95, this technology can be yours! Is it weird that I really really want one? How cool is this thing? I'm still skeptical, but how else can I be sure of its awesomeness (or complete falsity!) other than purchasing it? Honestly, I think part of the allure is the deception that I will actually cook things like Cornish hens or stuffed crab....But I might...with the Flavor-Wave!

In all reality...I will not buy this $120 microwave...yet. I was advised to put it on my wish list, composed of everything I can't afford at the moment on a student's salary. Then when I have that disposable income and can afford purchases like gold-plated toilets....yes, that's when the Flavor-Wave shall be mine! Cheers. For those with that disposable income (or high credit limits) check out the Flavor-Wave HERE!

Death on a Factory Farm

"What's right is right and what's wrong is wrong"...That is a statement of something in this world that you can say for certain will never change. However, it is something that has many facets, something that changes with the person, or topic, or amount of money involved...and as a result you have issues like animal cruelty...which is the specific topic that I am focused on at the moment. I've known for awhile the egregious lifestyle endured by animals which are raised to become food, this includes (off the top of my head) cows, pigs, hogs, chickens and turkeys, but to sit and watch it, uncensored, for an hour and a half is something that I needed to remember the...gruesomeness...Staying aware of the problems in the world is the only way I can ensure I will try and do something about it.

Currently, I am watching an HBO documentary: Death on a Factory Farm. It follows "Pete" who is an animal rights investigator hired by the Humane Farming Association. Pete investigates a hog farm in northern Ohio and unearths a disgusting "society", farmers and the like who view these animals as a commodity and as such hold no feelings towards these animals nor reservations on proper treatment. In the documentary we are shown the treatment of pigs (piglets) to hogs (adult). To begin, pigs are the 4th smartest animal, did you know that, right behind dolphins...and above dogs.

So the process starts with pregnant sows, (female hog) which are held in birthing pins, which provide only room for them to stand, no turning or walking or any movement other than shifting around is permitted, with the exception of dropping directly down to try and lay down. After over 100 days of this, when birth is eminent, the sows are moved to another pin, which is slightly larger, so the sow can lie down for the piglets to suckle. But the mother cannot get away from the piglets which causes her nipples to bleed, as well as sores from rubbing against the pin, which often have sharp, jagged and rusted edges. During weening, the piglets are plucked from their mother by their ears or legs and thrown up to 6 feet into a bin, piled several on top of one another. The sow sometimes try to defend their young, stop eating, becoming a "down pig" (which I will discuss later), and even die.

If the piglets are "skinnies" or have deformities and as a result are unable to be sold they are euthanized. Euthanization involves picking the piglet up by the legs and slamming their heads against the wall or floor, it is often necessary to do this multiple times. The use of a hammer is sometimes used jokingly.

Down hogs are hogs that have become sick or injured resulting in their inability to stand or walk on their own. These hogs are isolated in a pin especially for down hogs to await death. If the hogs are not cannibalized, they are pulled and kicked off a 4 foot drop to outside where a worker wraps a chain around its neck and another worker raises them with a fork lift and hangs them until they die.

There are so many problems in the world that animal rights get swept under the rug. I agree people are more important than animals. But it seems like such a simple thing to treat these animals with a little more respect. After all, animals were created by God first in the garden of Eden...It really all comes down to money and people are not willing to sacrifice money so that an animal is not tortured.

I just hope we can somehow change this...but I can say, after watching this documentary, bacon doesn't look so good anymore...and...well, maybe I didn't pick the wrong major after all...

Let's Make a Slave

Ever heard of a little speech that Willie Lynch delivered ohh centuries ago? Basically Lynch was invited down to the banks of the James River, in the colony of Virginia, to instruct slave owners on his brutish, but successful, methods for “The Making of a Slave!” If you haven’t read it yet (regardless of race) I encourage you to do so, it’s very…enlightening. The link is below.

First I’d like to point out, King James, for whom the river was named after, the same King James that ruled these masochists, is the same King James of the King James Version Bible. That’s a whole ‘nother blog, but I think I may have to rethink which Bible I read.

Trying to restrain myself from providing an ultimately unreadable blog due to length, I’m going to summarize the jist of the speech and hope that you read it for yourselves. Basically, Lynch describes his fool-proof methods to control slaves; it should last 300 years (2012). These strategies include creating and exploiting fear, distrust and envy among the slaves and using these to control. He describes turning male against female and, the actual subject of this blog, dark slaves against light slaves.

Skin color is something that has been an obvious factor, trait, etc in my life, but more specifically, it has been my own skin color that I’m referring to. Like everyone I notice skin color, you can’t help but to, it’s the first thing you notice, but that doesn’t mean I then change how I will treat the person or let them know what I think about their skin color. To me a person’s skin color is simply one piece of the puzzle of how they look and nothing else. When it comes to my skin color, it’s the same story whether it’s being told from a black person or a white person or an Indian person, “your light…like…really light…..are you mixed?” What? Am I mixed?! Do I look like a drink, maybe a cake to you? And thank you, I know I’m fair skinned, I have a mirror in my bathroom just like you. It’s something that has always been annoying, but I’ve learned to live with, probably just for the reason that I don’t want to burn bridges before I’ve built them, I like making new friends, but with me, it comes at a price, a constant reminder of how I “can’t be black because [I’m] lighter than so-and-so, who’s white!” I’ve gotten used to it, sometimes I even play along and joke too, “yes, I’m high-yella.”
This subject of skin color has recently become more and more discussed. Like it’s an everyday discussion, of the same thing, she’s yellow, I’m high-yellow, she’s dark, he’s red-boned…and it got me thinking…this discussion, right here, the one were having RIGHT NOW…was predetermined by our forefather’s slave masters….WHAT are we doing STILL kindling these murders’ flames?! 2012, that’s when this horror ride of skin and gender battle should be over, right? Fireworks and balloons and maybe even a parade will erupt December 25, 2012, people of ALL sizes, ages, SHADES, will skip freely out of their project homes and condos hold hands and sing in that ol’ negro spiritual. Blacks will suddenly sky rocket in financial, educational and business markets. The jails will become empty in 10-20 years. Obama is elected for his second term, ushering in more black senators, and governors and Supreme Court justices. Black is the new majority….right? That’s what will happen…right? In four years everything that has been unjustly done to hold the Negro down will vanish and we will live our lives how they were supposed to be, as kings and queens! This is the timeline of Lynch’s plan, so we just have to hold on for 4 more years…right??

Well, whether this fantastical fantasy comes true or not, we’ll have to wait and see. But I sure hope it ends soon, his methods have not only hit black Americans with a deadly blow, but it seems to affect Asians as well as Hispanics. There’s a divide, where lighter skin is better, where you get treated better, where you’re looked at with less fear or concern. Bleaching creams have been concocted and used. And all the while, white people are spending millions of dollars at tanning salons to get darker...now where is the logic in that?!?!?!

I think I have to make a decision within myself right now; I refuse to be a part of Lynch’s methods anymore! I refuse to be a victim of slave mentality! I refuse to joke! I refuse to accept the constant reminders of the difference in my skin color from a “full black person”! I refuse to accept being constantly asked if I’m mixed! (Nowadays we all are, get used to it!) I refuse to spend my money on faux-sun! I refuse to accept being called “white-girl”! I refuse to accept being told “you’re not black!” I refuse to be ashamed! I refuse!…I REFUSE!!!

God gave me a skin color, a fair one, get used to it! I am not going to allow this subject; of so little significance to use up any more of my time or brain activity…I’m done with it all! And people yall better follow suit, cuz in 2012, this nonsense won’t be tolerated anymore!

Whitewashing Flipped and Reversed

I wanna try to make this brief, since I've been dubbed "long-winded"...funny...

Anybody who knows me knows I love and hate all people equally...I always recognize race and I always recognize racism and I always realize it's difficult for people to admit the truth of what I just said when it comes to themselves and others around them. I know, they like to tell the news crew they want everyone to be treated equally maybe it "relieves" the heavy load of guilt that rides on their shoulders...doubtful, they don't feel guilt. The subject of this particular blog is something I have thought about for awhile, hoped I could ignore so I can enjoy it for what it is, but I'm afraid to say I can't pretend to ignore it anymore, and my greatest love of all may be in jeopardy of becoming an ever present reminder of the bigotry that lurks around every corner. (cue dramatic music)

I'm talking about movies. I love my movies. If itsa good one, I'll watch it several hundred times within the first week or so of first seeing it. I own...too many...yet not enough...and I can quote word for word of alot of em. I am a movie buff, if there's nothing to do I pop in a movie, if I'm mad at you or you wanna get on my good side..treat me to a movie (a good one, but I'm not too hard to please). But recently I've noticed the movies are all...a bit monochromatic...and IF there is some color to the film, it is made to look..well...ridiculous (not all of the time, but a lot of the time).

I just saw Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian yesterday, which was really good, and they even threw in some color...a giant black dude with a horse's body...a centaur, for those of you who are not nerds...(oh yea, then there were the menataurs...pff) this guy was a darker dude, with a light brown wig of wavy hair...c'mon really? Unless ol dude had some Indian in him, that combination won't happen lol...ok ok its "fantasy" whatev I just want to know why people of color cannot have the same fantastical movies made with them as the majority cast. Why can't we save middle earth? Why can't we design an ultra-sleek "iron" suit? Why must all of the movies with an all black cast, or mostly black cast, have some 30-something single mother eating a plate of fried chicken and greens waiting on her son who's out gang bangin' at 3 am....?
Why in Star Wars, the only other person of color, besides that jedi dude, who got kilt I might add, is some assassin who's trying to kill the "fair" maiden in distress AND is the blueprint for an entire army which is used to take over the galaxy...whaaaaa?

Why in Shrek is the only black guy an donkey.....

Why are the only group of people of color creepy scary natives that exhibit wonderful traits and rituals such as cannibalism and kidnapping in both King Kong and Pirates of the Caribbean?..and for that matter Planet of the Apes (yea that was uber-racist..if u didn't notice, you're blind) ummmmm...not to mention the king, Kong, himself...black men always wantin white chicks.........? and gettin kilt for it.....

Why in Sphere, everybody's all freaked out and drugging the only black guy with them..who happens to be smarter than them all as well...funny...

Why in Snatch are the black guys the only ones who get caught?

Why is harry potter's god father's name Serious Black? the most feared/hated man besides Volde-...you know who...

Why are 2/3 of the movies I own, probably more, in lack of any black person at all, or any other colors for that matter...

I'm just getting tired of NOT seeing "my face" up there saving the world...it's just another blatant reminder of the inequality that is still here...to me an all black cast in a movie not dealing with baby mama drama or court or soooooooul food etc  is about as likely as a black president (well there was The Wiz)....yea I said it...Hey...I want Obama to win and go on to be president...I do, but the reality of it is even if he wins the nomination he won't get the presidency, Yankee or Confederate, people are not gonna vote for him because he's black...bottom line...either that or his clear as mud Muslim background and secret support...pff....because "you can't be a good American and be Muslim", according to one very sure Kentuckian...the you-tube is below

I'm just sayin....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Below are some interesting facts/links I found even if you don't read this whole thing, take a look at them...

**surprising little note here, I was trying to find some solace in the fact that the prince, in Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, is Spanish...or something that has somewhat of a tint...but when I looked at his biography on IMDb.com his heritage is English, German, Welsh...and are you ready?..Afro-Caribbean....I know!! dude is 1/4 black!! I love him and his beautiful face even more ;)

**this thing is funny as heck!

**And the cout de gras!

Can a Sista Get a Nativity Scene

Bah HUMBUG!!!!

I am anti-Santa this year, I am so sick of seeing Santa mugs, blankets, pajamas...etc... If I see one more thing with Jolly ol' Saint Nick on it I'm gonna flip. These whiny baby atheists have completely flipped the script on Christmas..and well, anything else having to do with the Big J....

Satan...oops (chuckle).. I mean Santa has completely taken over Christmas. I THINK...Christmas has something to do with Jesus...maybe a leetle weetle bit...People have completely forgotten or willingly ignored the real reason for the season. People are so obsessed with not offending anyone that they have stolen Jesus' celebrated BIRTHDAY and given it to some ol fat guy...sorry...OBESE! Now yall know, If anyone forgets our b-days we have a temper tantrum, well I'm scared to find out what a tantrum from a big guy in the sky would look like....

I was listening to 94.5 Mixmas FM (you know they play Christmas songs 24-7) well, this nice depressing song was playing, it was some lil kid asking Santa to bring his Dad home from Iraq...ok ok, I can tolerate this, you know, I understand this is a tough time for military families, HOWEVER, right as some tears were going to cascade down, my face abruptly changed to HUh?! when this lil brat sang "Santaaaa, please answer Mom's prayers...".... say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!? are you kiding me?!?! Now people are PRAYING to this fat...obese...guy?!!?!? I'm preeeeetty sure we're s'posed to pray to God to answer our prayers....and I'm preeeeeeetty sure nobody who is Caucas....er..human...um... has ever, nor will ever answer any prayers of mine!!!

And businesses are more than happy to accommodate the Jesus-Haterz, because in all reality they will sell their Santa stricken merchandise to them and Jesus loving housewives spending hubby's money...so it's a win-win!! (cheesy thumbs up)....at probably 50% markup too!!

And don't try to find a decent Nativity scene anywhere, the Santa's have taken over!! There are none to be found that are on the same asthetic level as Chris Chringle (sp?) Oh Walmart is swarming with Santa wrapping paper, but can a sista get one 65 sq. ft. roll with a star, or manger, or SOMETHIN!!??

Uh Uh NO! I will NOT tell my children of this farce, they will grow up knowing the truth. NOPE, there will be no 'twas the night before Christmas', 'guide my sleigh tonight', 'HO HO HO' UNLESS the chillins KNOW they are just stories and I KNOW that they KNOW!! And if they feel it necessary to share the truth with other children, far be it for me to stop them!! "Be my guest kiddies!!, Let the other kiddies know their parents have been lying their ENTIRE lives!!

As far as I'm concerned...Satan...er...Santa...can guide his 8 reindeer right off a cliff!
